Redesigning how Australians find work.
The government's Jobactive platform was outdated, confusing, and frustrating for the millions of Australians who relied on it to find work. As part of a three-designer team, we reimagined the entire job search experience - from onboarding and search to applications and interview prep - laying the groundwork for what launched in 2022 as Workforce Australia.

A platform that actually helps people get jobs.
The old system buried useful features behind confusing navigation and vague instructions. We stripped it back and rebuilt the core experience around what job seekers actually need: a clear starting point, personalised job matches, and step-by-step guidance through the process. The homepage leads with search — no clutter, just a direct path to finding work. The dashboard gives each user a personalised view of their progress, upcoming appointments, and recommended jobs. We also designed an AI-powered mock interview tool that lets people practise with video and audio before a real interview - a feature that didn't exist on the old platform at all.

Design System
Built for a platform that needs to scale nationally.
A government platform used by millions of people across every state needs to be rock-solid consistent. We created a design system with reusable components, clear patterns, and accessibility baked in from the start - so the development team could build new features without the interface drifting. Plain language guidelines were part of the system too, making sure every label, instruction, and error message was written in words real people actually understand.
