How We Boosted Conversions with a UX Audit of Ritual Recovery’s Product Page

At Studio JC, we believe that great design isn't just about aesthetics—it's about creating user experiences that drive growth and build trust. Recently, we conducted a UX audit for Ritual Recovery, a brand specialising in cold therapy and recovery equipment. Our goal was to identify design improvements that could enhance user engagement and boost conversions. Here's a breakdown of our findings and recommendations:

1. Optimising Mobile Layout for Immediate Engagement

Observation: On mobile devices, the product title occupied excessive space, pushing the main image and essential information below the fold. Additionally, the 'Add to Cart' button was positioned too far down, and there were no image thumbnails for easy browsing.

Recommendation: We proposed reducing the headline size to allow the main product image to be prominently displayed upon landing. Introducing a sticky 'Add to Cart' button ensures it's always accessible as users scroll. Adding image thumbnails provides a quick overview of product variations, enhancing the browsing experience.

Impact: These adjustments make the purchasing process more intuitive, encouraging users to make quicker decisions without unnecessary scrolling.

2. Emphasising Key Benefits Upfront

Observation: The product description was lengthy and dense, with critical benefits like faster recovery and prolonged cold retention buried deep within the text.

Recommendation: We suggested highlighting 3–4 primary benefits immediately under the price, using concise bullet points accompanied by simple icons. This approach breaks down information into digestible pieces, making it easier for users to grasp the product's value quickly.

Impact: By presenting the most compelling benefits upfront, users can immediately understand the product's value proposition, leading to increased interest and potential conversions.

3. Streamlining Variant and Quantity Selection

Observation: The variant selection buttons were not clearly distinguishable, and the quantity selector seemed unnecessary, as most customers typically purchase a single item.

Recommendation: We recommended displaying variant options in a horizontal row with clear indicators for the selected choice. Removing the quantity selector simplifies the interface, reducing potential decision fatigue.

Impact: A cleaner, more straightforward selection process enhances user satisfaction and reduces barriers to completing a purchase.

4. Prioritising Essential Information

Observation: Crucial details such as product features, stock availability, and delivery times were positioned too far down the page, risking them being overlooked.

Recommendation: We advised moving key information like stock status and shipping details closer to the 'Add to Cart' button. FAQs and related products can be positioned further down or displayed after an item is added to the cart.

Impact: Providing essential information upfront builds trust and assists customers in making informed decisions swiftly.

5. Enhancing Mobile Usability

Observation: The site's font sizes were small, and the layout wasn't optimised for touch interactions on smaller screens.

Recommendation: Increasing font sizes improves readability, while implementing full-width buttons and adequate spacing ensures the interface is touch-friendly.

Impact: An optimised mobile experience caters to the growing number of users shopping via smartphones, potentially increasing conversion rates.

Conclusion

By focusing on user-centric design principles, we transformed Ritual Recovery's product page into a more engaging and conversion-friendly experience. At Studio JC, our approach is straightforward: collaborate directly with clients, eliminate unnecessary intermediaries, and deliver designs that truly resonate with users. If you're looking to enhance your website's performance and build trust with your audience, let's work together to create impactful designs that drive growth.
